Hi– wondering if anyone knows of a dispensary that delivers to Long Island NY (Suffolk County area)

I have been using “medical” marijuana for 45 years. I’m 60 now, my weight is pretty much what it was in college, I take no prescription drugs on a regular basis, and have no chronic medical problems. In fact, my biggest health problem is sports injuries. The lies dispersed about marijuana use over the past 40 years is shameful and an injustice. When my last j.o.b. went to random drug testing I knew it was the beginning of the end for me and that self-employment was going to be the only way I could live my life the way I see fit. I don’t know how employer drug testing was ever allowed. Violation of civil rights on so many levels. But now the truth about marijuana is pretty much out so the fuel and textile and prescription industries are going to be sent packing.

Here’s the issue I have been dealing with.
I had the MM card and vaped. It helped me SO much.
Then I had to have surgery at the clinic but I was told they wouldn’t help me until I had a clean drug screen.
I need another surgery but I was told if my urine test comes back positive, I will have to go to rehab.
    Remember….MEDICAL MARIJUANA.
The moral of my story? Not all providers are in favor of patients using MM.
    Please keep that in mind.

    • Steven on March 6, 2019 at 5:34 am

You need to find a better pain management doctor. The doctor that refills my implanted morphine pump
was the one that told me I needed to look into getting the medical marijuana, and sincerely believed I
would benefit from it, and I have. The question I have is what drugs are they finding, if it is still an
illegal drug, then what you experienced will happen again. You need to get a doctor that supports
the medical marijuana use, and then take only LEGAL drugs, from a pharmacy or Florida Dispensary.
Any other drug in your system, could indeed land you in a rehab facility for awhile.

      • Mmjuser4life on April 19, 2019 at 1:53 pm

Agreed, it was my primary pain management doc that recommended I try medical marijuana in the first place and I have not taken an opiod since…

    • Deb on April 12, 2019 at 4:08 pm

It’s going to probably end up in the court system. Doctors and state ran medical/mental facilities need to keep their options about medical marijuana to their selves. I too was refused medication because I tested dirty for THC. I have been on my adderall for ADHD about 20 years. Thank God I am not addicted to it or I would of went through withdrawals from it.
We don’t tell Doctors how to live their private lives.

If you have time, moments here and there, research “The Entourage Effect” and the “Endocannabinoid System”. The most simple way I can describe it is like spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta is the THC, the meatballs is the CBD, and the Terpenes are the sauce. Separately they’re ok. Maybe even good. But mix it all together and you have a great dish. Of course the better the sauce, the better the dish. Some like more salt, garlic, or pparmesn than others. Some prefer white over red sauce. The sauce even dictates the smell. The terpenes are the same for marijuana.

So when looking for the right medicinal, look for the terpenes that are best for your symptoms. For example, b-caryophyllene for pain, or myrcene for sedation and stronger euphoric effect. If you do that, you will find that your medicine will be more effective.

Also, if vaping oils, be cautious of battery voltage and/or temperature. Some cartridges are cut with different agents like PG, PEG, VG, and becoming more common MCT. The point of vaping is to be healthy….ier. But with the lack of research, it’s difficult to ensure safety unless you do your due diligence. Temperature matters! Too high or low not only changes the effect but may cause your vape to become carcinogenic if vaped to high and contains a cutting agent.

All in all, using medicinal marijuana for wellness is a personal journey. It is NOT a 15-30 minute scheduled appointment where you are barely heard, prescribed who knows what, and then herded out. Take the time to research for yourself as nobody know you better. I wish you all the best and hope you find relief and balanced wellness.

I have fibro, neuropathy in legs, deformed spine, ripped sacroiliac joint on left side, beat cancer 2x,and was the victim of road rage(I didn’t know the guy, traffic was backed up and he was pissed),so he went off road in his 4 wheeler and coming at me sideways flipped my Honda 2x n ran me over which caused pile up. Now my mental health is destroyed, extremely fearful of everything. Worst of all though I now have severe traumatic brain damage. I lost my job my home my child. I need to be allowed to relax and I look very forward to it. My days now are spent crying.

WOW… I have the same ailments and now the same pain. CT didn’t show anything. Had total hysto in ’97, by scar. Have gone come 20 yr prescription for opiates ,cold turkey by PPO. Pain management dies not like to help Medicaid patients on SSI. caregiver to 86 yr old Mom, and can hardly take care of myself because of the pain. What to do. Can’t afford to go pay for MMJ doctor, license, etc. And have to bring Mom with. Something needs to be done. We are dying out here while the illegal drug abusers are taken care of by the state. What’s wrong with this picture???

No I have the same back surgery and 16 knee surgeries and neck fusion and for some reason I hurt on my right side and lower left side of my back but no one can find out why. I use to get out and do a little stuff now I’m 46 and a shut in plus glaucoma and cadiracs in both eyes just found that out. I really don’t know how much more bad news I can handle. I would bet that my kidneys are going bad. I drink 32oz of fluid in 2 days just don’t want it so I stay dehydrated and doctors still don’t care so why should I.

      • Joseph on March 17, 2019 at 12:06 pm

I have severe back pain also.. I also have depression and anxiety. I stay hidden in my bedroom 24 hours a day. I only come out to get something to eat or drink. I have to really self talk myself into leaving the house to the grocery store or Doctor appts. I saw two different Orthopedic Doctors and they both said the same thing that I will have to deal with the pain. I’m scheduled for acupuncture this month. I need my medical cannabis.

I too suffer from severe pain, 3 back surgeries, 3 failed hip implants, 20 dislocations and my hip was removed, which has left me in a wheelchair. Medical marijuana is a blessing and I urge you to try if possible. It is expensive to pay $300 to a dr, and $75 for a state license. The products are very expensive. They seem to forget that is is another expensive medicine but this medicine is not covered under medicare. BUT, it works

    • Deb on March 30, 2019 at 8:51 pm

I’m disabled and to get the card its going to cost me 300$. I don’t understand how we are supposed to afford this. I guess the best part is that it’s legal now.

  11. Barbara on January 15, 2019 at 6:14 pm

I am praying to be able to get a card. I have been on Percocet and Xanax for years. My doctor today cut my Percocet down as she wants me to stop the Xanax. I have been taking both for years from medical problems. I really hope I can find a doctor in Ohio. I would gladly give up the pills as they do not really help me that much anyway. Does anyone know what the cost is for a card OR for the marijuana? Do you get it monthly? As I understand it I will have to drive to Toledo and then to Michigan for this. Riding in a car is so hard for me. Thanks for any help at all.

    • Sheri R on January 17, 2019 at 9:30 pm

Hello Barbara! Please mention my name and go through OMNI for your medical card. You need a qualifying condition for the State of Ohio MMJ list and diagnosis from your medical Dr. first. Then you can call OMNI (888)470-0008 and tell them that you need to make an appointment (tell them that Sheri R referred you) and they will set you up a time to see a Dr. that is licensed to recommend. Their Dr. will go from there…you will pay them a fee for the visit and if everything works out, you will get your recommendation that is for a year and at that appointment, you will be added to the mmj patient registry for OHIO. Then you will go to the MMJ Board of Pharmacy website and sign up for your card. If you are on SSI, you would qualify for a reduced fee card with the State of Ohio which would be $25 instead of $50 and your caregiver can also get a card at the $25 price. You have to prove this income with the State first before you pay or you will end up stuck with paying the $50. They send you an email with your card info and VOILA–you now can go to a dispensary and get medication! I hope that this helps! If you need more help, feel free to reach out!

    • Heather on January 24, 2019 at 8:51 pm

I know that the card has a yearly registration fee of $50 ( $25 if you’re a veteran or are on permanent disability), but no idea how much the marijuana will cost. I’m still doing my own research on that. I’m also looking for a doctor closer to me, as car rides are hard on me.

      • Robert V on February 24, 2019 at 8:26 pm

I’ve been looking into all this very closely. I have ptsd, severe osteo in both shoulders along with fibro. With SSI pending I have no choice but to keep taking norco and psyche meds. I know once I can get my medical card “I can do away with pharmaceuticals” I’m 53 yrs. old and I think I have a passed conviction of a simple possession of controlled substance (approx. 30 yrs.ago). Will I have a problem getting a medical card here in Chicago ?

      • george r Hartman on March 5, 2019 at 7:19 pm

they charge you 49.00 every three months.to keep them updated on your behafe?????????????????

    • Barb on January 30, 2019 at 3:52 pm

You need to see a doctor who has a license to prescribe in order to get a recommendation for medical marijuana, Most are charging $250 for that doctor visit. Once your name is entered into the registry, you will get a link to submit payment to print your license- that cost is $50 per year. I haven’t been to a dispensary yet but am hearing that the costs are high because it’s new..hearing they are a averaging for 2.8 grams about $50-60 dollars. This is in Ohio who just had MM legalized

      • Amanda on February 23, 2019 at 7:53 am

Wow! 😲 Now that’s EXTREMELY high! No punt intended lol. I knew about the price of the card, but geez I mean how do they expect people to pay for the stuff? I know that regardless the strain grams go pretty quickly. Vaping with the thc oil is so much cheaper and it lasts longer then a few grams. It’s effects are absolutely wonderful. I get a thc cartridge that’s very close to 98% thc it’s 1 gram of the oil and it helps with my severe back and neck pain, PTSD (sexual and physical abuse), extreme anxiety, and insomnia, the one I choose to get works for all my problems. It’s such a great feeling being able to walk into a public place at 40 years old without any pain or running out of there in a full blown anxiety attack. I would give one of the many brands and names of thc oil cartridges a try if you don’t have the money to pay for the herb 🌿. I suggest researching the names of them so that you can find a great one to help you where you need it to. Good luck, sorry for the book lol. I just wanted to let you know that you do have options. 😉💚

      • Nancy Bates on April 3, 2019 at 10:51 am

In Florida it costs $300 to see dr, $75 for state license and products are very expensive. This is a medicine not covered by insurance, another hit against the patient. Being grateful for finally having access to this medicine does not give investors the right to charge such high prices.

They took the money out of my account on the 19th but according to their web site it posted only on the 29th. How much more of a wait should i expect before i get my card and/or number so i can try to get some relief. chronic back pain, eight herniated and bulging disks, lss in every single vertibrae and chronic insomnia?

    • Tamirose Ferchak on December 21, 2018 at 12:46 am

Mitch Young _ I saw the doc on 9/15 and came home and paid via credit card (w/extra fee) to the State. A month later, my approval was STILL in limbo – so I called and was told “your payment just cleared” – I told them that I had their email showing my Approval & Confirmation # from my Credit card, had already received the bill in the mail from my credit card and paid it and yet, they still think the payment hasn’t cleared. I threatened to contact the Credit Card company and put the charge in dispute since the State of FL was claiming that they had not been paid or even received confirmation from Bank of America VISA that they would be paid. I asked that my complaint be hand-carried to a Supervisor within an hour and that I get a call back within 2 hr. Within 20 minutes, I received my email approval letter from the State of FL giving me the information I needed to go to the dispensary. They have a POORLY run system here in FL. Call then & threaten them. The day they charged me, my bank had a # showing the transaction was approved and that the State had NO ISSUES whatsoever, from Bank of America, sending them my funds electronically. It’s all a ridiculous game with them – don’t tolerate it. I do NOT plan on renewing with the games they play. Went to the Dispensary the end of October and rushed to the Hospital in full blown seizures and loss of consciousness on Nov 20, 2018. I regained consciousness 28 hours later, in a total brain fog – in a monitored bed and had no idea what had happened. When I went to print my Medical Records my BP was elevated thru the roof when I saw the Diagnosis: Long-Term Marijuana Use, uncomplicated. I had been on the system 3 weeks, and had not vaped ANY in 3 days when this massive seizure happened. Due to “labeling” me, despite us having these FL Dispensaries and the State collecting funds – I was pushed aside and treated as a junkie. Two weeks later, I learn I have multi system cancer in organs. It was NOT the MMJ that caused the seizures; however, I was neglected proper care because their views are antiquated and to them, I was just a patient who used “illegal” marijuana – the paramedics left my purse behind so I didn’t have my wallet card – but shouldn’t they be able to look that up or shouldn’t they be required before they make such a harsh judgement on my lifestyle – which has above board, lawful with zero criminal activity – but they didn’t even look to find the REAL cause of the problem -just blamed the FL legal MMJ – tragic. Until we can get our Medical Practitioners here in FL to accept this program, I can’t afford at this time to have my future health complications to be overlooked because a urine drug screen may come back and show THC; but I’m PERMITTED by FL law. Please call the FL Representatives who quickly took your funds and then drag their feet on sending you the wallet card or temporary email. They are just making it MISERABLE for patients to participate.

I understand. Have too many issues to list but mostly chronic pain, seizure disorder (xanax caused it, big pharm and docs dont stress that, and insomnia too. Applying for Diability, not a dollar to my name for basically 9 yrs total just cant work anymore (dr agrees). Just waiting for prescription for MMU to be legal. But, to have what I need would be over $600/mo. Prob what my disability check will only be or close. So, i can maybe use this as part of my alternative to the synthetic heroin (oxycodone) that Drs got me addicted to….i’m holistic at heart but wasnt legal until recently …CBD for a year or so….no help with pain or sleep. Maybe helped with seizures but not alone yet….Finally went 50/50 and finally got mmu card July 2018. Found one strain Chem Dawg in True Clear only, but now cant get it anymore. “Whatever they send us, we sell. Sorry.” So, now what waste more money trying new strains for what? Growers change then I cant really ever find “my coctail” so to speak. Frustating when u want to do things legal, never been big on criminal possibilities as a mother….FINALLY “think Ive arrived” and Nope not yet…BTW my mmu/pain management dr said We the patients have to fight….Found out if we all reach the proper persons or agency, fight to get Medical Cannabis a Scheduled 2 Drug because it does work better for chronic pain than pain pills and much more but just that will at least allow us to use insurance of whatever form to get what we REALLY need and not cost us the aweful prices on our own. One step to help. In my opinion, legal cannabis should be legal before alcohol. Black and white when it comes to DUI dangers, decisions of the violent nature, i could go on but as an ex smoker in my 20s vs now 50, alot would change positively compared to drinking and street drugs. k. Done. Pass it on. And where do i sign for complete legalization in FL?

I have epilepsy and have had 2 brain surgery. Am on a lot of medication, but I still have seizures. I live in Ohio, so am not sure when medical marijuana will be available. Also not sure is my neurologist will even sign a medical card for it. I will sign up for it, but will he send my records to doctors that give out medical marijuana? Just don’t know

      • Donnalee on October 2, 2018 at 1:39 am

There are drs that will approve MM for qualified patents. Follow the guidelines for finding a physician in OH

I was told no dispensaries are open in Ohio true?

          • Patricia Violi on December 21, 2018 at 3:53 am

As of Dec 20, 2018 there are no dispensaries open in Ohio yet however if you get a certificate from a medical marijuana doc in Ohio ( there are lots of them) you can go to Michigan and purchase product. About an hour drive from Toledo, OH on the campus of Michigan University. Very safe neighborhood. Check a website called OHDispensaries.com for locations of dispensaries.

      • Lori W on January 13, 2019 at 1:45 pm

Two separate docs and neuro shouldnt have any say…as long as u qualify with diagnosed siezures (me) doc is able to prescribe. Neuro shouldnt have any say, because of their own beliefs.

We recently moved to Ohio (closer to family) after 20 years, from Ocean Beach, CA. We’ve been through this entire process a few years ago! It will be worth the wait, I hope for us Ohioans, it will be prosperous (no pun intended). We know how it works! We can help, if need be! Let me know! Peace!! MO

I really do need the card and a doctor because I suffer from pain in my back neck and legs ,I also suffer from depression

  28. Jack T McCurdy on July 16, 2018 at 10:24 pm

What is recommended for pain, depression and stress. Do not want anything that is HIGH in THC. I get the munchies real bad and I am way overweight because my knees are both gone and cannot exercise, can’t even walk more than 100 feet.
I have had 12 surgeries on various parts of the body, plus a stroke, prostate cancer,, crack fifth lumbar, a hip replacement ,bone marrow cancer which I receive a transplant and I got Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) and now the chemo has given me congestive heart failure.CBD does not help by itself. I need a little THC in with the CBD. Thank you,Jack

    • MC News on July 17, 2018 at 4:13 pm

Jack, we do not recommend medical advice. There is a segment in this page on the MedCard site that covers a few strains and what they are good for.

cbd oil probably will not help the pain without the thc in it.

    • sherrie on December 9, 2018 at 5:46 am

cbd oil by itself will help about 80% of the people. but if it has some thc in it, it will work faster, help more and fast longer. if you have a dispensary in your site I found that thc pain cream is wonderful -it has 100 mg thc-2 oz is $30. it lasts 6-8 hrs, but it takes an hr or two to start working. with that said, two of us are using “breathe” lotion which is a 2:1 thc/cbd lotion costs $40 and it works in 10-15 minutes relieving the pain…but it only lasts about 2 hrs. so we put the breathe on first followed by the thc lotion-and pain free for hrs….. I was able to reduce my pain meds in half..
I have crohns, fibromyalgia, horrible arthritis, back pain from accident and disc problems, as well as insomnia.( and my friend has horrible rheumatoid arthritis.)
this has been expensive but wonderful in reducing our pain and I use the capsules 1:1 for 6 hrs sleep and wake up refreshed..,hope this helps. contact me if you want to talk
